Legacy of the Freeze – Summary
By hyojune
In the cold darkness of the future, Isaac Lavelle awakens after 500 years in cryogenic sleep. Once at the brink of death in the 21st century, he was preserved by the Lavelle family, who promised to bring him back. That promise was kept—but the world he returns to is nothing like the one he knew.
The Lavelle family has become a global mega-corporation that dominates civilization. Cities have grown vertically, and society has become hyper-efficient, automated, and brutally hierarchical. Isaac lives in the luxurious Arcadia Spire, equipped with an immortal body and unrivaled power. But outside his high tower, the lower levels of the city are filled with suffering: enslaved laborers, slums, and a population stripped of hope.
He is the last human with memories of the 21st century, and an heir to the empire. However, when he sees the misery below, he begins to question everything:
"What kind of civilization have we built, and for whom?"
When Isaac secretly visits the Niflheim Undercity, he meets people who fight for freedom. Choosing to side with them, he joins the resistance against his own family. After his identity is exposed, he is labeled a traitor and sentenced to death. But Isaac escapes—and begins his mission to destroy the system his ancestors built. He becomes the spark that ignites a revolution.
