Hidden star
By Ragun
Since the beginning of time, there existed a lifeform in the vastness of the universe—an alien being born before even the stars themselves. In the darkness that stretched infinitely, he awoke alone. As he drifted through the endless void for an unfathomable amount of time, he came to know a feeling even more painful than eternal life: loneliness.
To exist with no one to speak to, to leave behind no memory in anyone’s heart—that was a suffering greater than death.
One day, by chance, he discovered a small planet called Earth. A world of blue oceans and green forests, colorful cities and teeming life. But more than anything, it was the presence of beings who smiled, argued, and shared their hearts with one another that struck him like a miracle.
For the first time, he longed desperately.
“I want to be friends with them.”
But to live on Earth, he needed a body.
And that’s when he found a boy standing alone on the rooftop of an abandoned school building at the edge of the city. The boy's name was Kim Hyun-do. Orphaned and alone, Hyun-do had endured years of bullying and abuse, with no one to lean on. When he finally graduated middle school, he thought he might be free—only to be assigned to the same high school as his tormentors.
Pushed to the brink, he made his decision.
“There’s no place for me. No one who needs me.”
In that moment, the alien spoke.
“If that body is no longer yours… would you let me have it?”
The voice was strange, but warm. Gentle.
“I want to live. For the opposite reason. I want to laugh, to connect, to be someone’s friend.
So… may I live in your place?”
And with a faint nod, the contract was made.
From that day forward, the alien awoke in a human form. A new life, a new name: Kim Hyun-do. But in his heart, he called himself Tempest—a name born from the storm of memories and emotions now embedded in him.
Thus began his quiet life as a high school student on Earth.
His first friend was Lee Yeon-woo, a quiet boy with perceptive eyes. Suspicious at first, Yeon-woo still found himself unable to leave Tempest alone.
“You’re weird. But… somehow, I don’t mind it.”
Next came Bae Seo-hyun, a bright and energetic member of the badminton club. She spotted Tempest during PE class and grinned.
“You’ve got some moves. Come join the club!”
And finally, there was Yoo Han-sol, a lover of all things occult and the sole member of the Paranormal Research Club. The moment she saw him, she pointed.
“You’re not human. I can tell.”
Strangely, her voice wasn’t accusing, but curious—maybe even understanding.
As Tempest built friendships and stepped into the rhythm of daily human life, he began to experience emotions he had never known. Joy, confusion, trust, fear. The remnants of Kim Hyun-do’s pain and memories remained within the body—and Tempest slowly came to understand that human emotions were not just data. They were living things.
But his existence could never remain truly ordinary.
The immense power that had existed within him since the dawn of the universe began subtly affecting Earth. Mysterious phenomena started occurring—distorted electromagnetic waves, sudden shifts in weather, visions that defied explanation.
It was as if his emotions were spilling over into the world.
As his secret teetered on the edge of being discovered, his friends began sensing the truth. Han-sol drew closer with her investigations, Yeon-woo began piecing things together, and Seo-hyun noticed the tension building in his eyes.
And through it all, Tempest was forced to ask himself:
Who am I?
Where does Kim Hyun-do end, and I begin?
But one thing was certain—
He was no longer alone.
And he would not give up this life. Not now.
A warm, heart-wrenching story of an alien from the stars adapting to life on Earth.
A blend of fantasy and slice-of-life, friendship and love, mystery and healing.
Tempest’s true story is just beginning.
