Once upon a time, in a small village in Mexico, there lived a beautiful woman named Maria. She was known for her radiant beauty and her kind heart1.
They got married and had two children.
However, as time passed, Maria’s husband started to lose interest in her1. He would often leave for long periods and show more affection towards their children than towards Maria.
When she realized what she had done, Maria was filled with such remorse that she drowned herself in the same river.
But instead of finding peace in the afterlife, Maria was cursed to wander the Earth for eternity, searching for her lost children1. She became La Llorona, the Weeping Woman.
La Llorona is often heard near bodies of water, crying out for her children It is said that those who hear her wails will suffer misfortune or even death.
Despite the many years that have passed, the legend of La Llorona continues to be told, serving as a chilling reminder of the tragic consequences of jealousy and rage.
