1 EXT. TROPICAL BEACH - DAY 1 Over a BLACK SCREEN, we hear the gentle, soothing sound of WAVES LAPPING ON A BEACH. FADE IN on: A young man in his twenties, BILLY. He wakes up on a tropical beach on a beautiful sunny day. He’s lying face- down on the sand, fully dressed in an old-fashioned sailor’s uniform. Slowly he raises his head, surfacing from unconsciousness. TITLE: SOMEWHERE IN THE SOUTH SEAS, JANUARY 1942 With great effort, he looks around groggily, and sees where he is. His vision is a bit blurry. He looks around and sees a PAIR OF GLASSES lying on the sand close by. He picks them up and starts to put them on his face, but they’re broken beyond repair. He puts them in his breast pocket. He looks around a bit more and sees pieces of FLOTSAM AND JETSAM on the beach that seem to have come from a ship: crates, barrels, bits of rope, that sort of thing. He turns 180 degrees and looks out to sea. Off the coast a bit is a SINKING SHIP, which is mostly below the water but appears to be a navy destroyer. A thick pall of SMOKE is billowing from the ship. In a few seconds, the rest of it slips beneath the surface and is gone, consigned to a watery grave. Billy picks himself up, brushes himself off, turns around and faces the interior of the island again. He has a good

look around and notices for the first time that there is a quietly SMOKING VOLCANO in the centre of the island. Bill looks scared and concerned about his situation. BILLY Hello??!!! Anyone???!!! Cooooo-eeee!!! But no one answers him. For lack of a better idea, he decides to walk down the beach and take a better look around. He ambles down the beach, looking all around. Suddenly something up ahead catches his eye: a FELLOW SAILOR, also lying face-down on the sand. Small waves wash over him. Billy runs over to the sailor. BILLY (CONT’D) Hey! Are you alright?! Hey! (CONTINUED) 2. 1 CONTINUED: 1 Billy crouches over the other sailor and rolls him over. Numerous small crabs skitter off the man’s mutilated face, interrupted from their meal. Bill recoils in horror and takes several steps back. He looks around at his surroundings once again, anxious and desperate. He looks up at the scorching tropical sun. Its heat is merciless, and already starting to sear his skin. He decides to head into the jungle. He walks up the beach and disappears into the green. 2 EXT. JUNGLE - DAY 2 Billy treks through the jungle, listening to strange bird calls, glancing around in all directions. BILLY Helloooooo! Anybody?! No one answers him. The island seems uninhabited ... at least by humans. He stops, looks around and listens. BILLY (CONT’D) Where the hell am I? He presses on. The camera lingers on him for a few moments,

then tilts down to focus on something he missed: a large FOOTPRINT in the mud, left there by an unknown creature of uncommon size. A short time later, Billy comes to a FRESHWATER STREAM. By now, he’s a bit parched, so he drops down on all fours to drink the cool, clear water. It’s refreshing. He gulps it like there’s no tomorrow. He pauses for a moment, panting, wondering what he’s going to do next. He looks at the surface of the water, and sees a REFLECTION in it, a reflection of some kind of creature across the creek, looking at him. He can’t make out what it is, though. He looks up, just as the mystery creature disappears into the foliage on the other side of the stream. Billy quickly gets to his feet and wipes water out of his eyes. He looks around feverishly, scanning the bushes. Across the creek, something is moving. He can faint rustling sounds as the creature creeps through the undergrowth. He can also hear very slight grunting noises, not to mention heavy breathing. (CONTINUED) 3. 2 CONTINUED: 2 Something is stalking him, waiting for its chance to strike. Billy decides not to give it its chance. He turns tail and runs like hell. Behind him, somewhere, the unseen mystery creature explodes from the bushes, runs across the shallow creek, and gives chase. We see from its POV as it pursues Billy at a frightening clip.

He tears through the jungle as fast as his legs will carry him, ripping through vines and leaping over fallen logs. Behind him, we catch fleeting glimpses of huge CLAWED feet following him, and the silhouette of something decidedly saurian in appearance. Billy looks back over his shoulder every few seconds, but can’t quite see what type of animal is chasing him, as his vision is fairly poor without his glasses. On one of those occasions where Billy looks back, he trips on something on the forest floor, something he fails to see because his vision is diverted elsewhere. He goes flying and sprawls on the leaf litter. He picks raises himself up a bit and looks around to see what he tripped on. It’s the ribcage -- and other bones -- of some kind of animal that’s been stripped virtually clean, consumed by some sort of predator. There are scraps of flesh still clinging to the bones, and flies buzzing around. Billy can’t tell what sort of creature the bones belonged to, but it almost looks like some type of baby dinosaur, like a Triceratops or something. The horns on the skull are a dead giveaway. Billy takes his broken glasses out of his pocket and holds them up to his face to try to improve his vision, but only one lens remains, and it’s cracked. He looks up in horror and sees the creature that’s been pursuing him as it emerges from the bushes. It’s a DWARF

ALLOSAURUS, about six feet high, with slavering jaws and beady eyes, lining Billy up in its sights for lunch. Billy instinctively grabs a loose bone that’s sitting next to him -- part of a leg bone, seemingly -- and he brandishes it, ready to use it as a weapon if need be. The Allosaurus pauses for a second and roars at him. It’s a horrifying, blood-curdling sound. Then it starts rushing towards him. As quick as a flash, Billy gets up and runs like hell. The Allosaurus comes after him once again, navigating the forest with alarming speed and nimbleness. (CONTINUED) 4. 2 CONTINUED: (2) 2 Billy eventually comes to another creek, this one deeper and wider than the last. It’s too wide to jump, but nearby there’s a natural LOG BRIDGE. He scurries halfway across it. On the other side, he looks back to see what the Allosaurus is going to do. The Allosaurus hesitates for a few moments on the other side of the creek, looking at the log bridge, then back up at Billy, then back at the log bridge. It roars at Billy again, this time in frustration. BILLY (CONT’D) Haha! Licked you! What do you think about that, you big ugly lizard? The Allosaurus responds by attempting to cross the log bridge! But because it’s a lot larger than Billy, it has to tread very very carefully, and it almost loses its balance once or twice as it walks.

Billy looks down at the Triceratops leg bone in his hand and decides to throw it at the advancing Allosaurus. He misses. The Allosaurus keeps coming, inching its way across the log bridge. Frantic, Billy picks up a stick instead, and throws it.’ He misses again. The Allosaurus roars. Finally Billy picks up a large rock, which is almost too heavy for him, and heaves it towards the looming dinosaur. Direct hit. The rock glances off the Allosaurus’s head, knocking it off the log bridge and into the creek, where it floats away, growling and thrashing. Billy laughs again, relieved. Having defeated his nemesis, he heads off again 3 EXT. BEACH - DAY 3 Billy returns to the beach a short time later. He looks relieved to be out of the sinister, monster-haunted jungle. BILLY Oh, thank God. He hears the howl of some of other kind of strange dinosaur deep in the jungle, different to the Allosaurus. He looks around in terror. BILLY (CONT'D) Alright, just stay on the beach from now on, Billy. Just stay on the beach, try to signal a ship or ... (CONTINUED) 5. 3 CONTINUED: 3 He looks around at the ocean for any signs of a ship or boat, but there’s nothing on the horizon. Billy looks up and sees what looks like a plane, high up in the sky overhead. He beams. BILLY (CONT’D) ... plane! He starts waving his arms manically. BILLY (CONT’D) Hey!!! Down here!! Help! Get me outta

this place! Heeeeeeeelp! The plane high overhead seems to spot him, as it starts to grow a bit larger in his vision, as if it’s descending towards him. BILLY (CONT’D) Yeah!!! Here I am! Please, come get me! Heeeeeelp! The plane grows in size. Billy suddenly realizes something odd: he can’t hear the plane’s engine. He sticks a finger in one of his ears to try to get some of the sand out of it. BILLY (CONT’D) (confused) What kinda ... plane ... can’t hear .. the engine? The plane descends closer towards him. With dawning horror, Billy slowly raises his crushed glasses to his face and peers with one eye through their remaining (cracked) lens. His eye widens. The “plane” turns out to be not actually an aircraft at all, it’s a prehistoric flying reptile known as an ANHANGUERA. And it has large jaws filled with very sharp needle-like teeth! Billy screams as the Anhanguera opens its impressive jaws and swoops down towards him. Simultaneously, it starts to make an awful, guttural screeching sound. Their utterances intermingle as we CUT TO BLACK. The sound of waves lapping gently calmly on the beach accompanies the END CREDITS.
